Cop embraces martyrdom, one criminal killed in clash

KHAIRPUR: A police constable and a suspect criminal lost their lives on Sunday in an alleged encounter at Ranipur.

According to a report, two constables of police’s eagle squad, Wahadat Malah and Mumtaz Ali Bhambhro were patrolling near Birohi market when they inspected a suspected criminal. Consequently, the suspect opened fire on the constables. Resultantly, Mumtaz Ali Bhambhro died on the spot.

Following the incident, the police reinforcement was called to follow the culprit. The police and armed assailants confronted each other near a hotel. One suspect lost his life during the armed conflict.

Meanwhile, the police recovered a large quantity of arms from the area.

Sindh inspector general of police AD Khuwaja announced a compensation of Rs 10 million for the martyred constable and two employment opportunities for his children.

The Khairpur senior superintendent of police (SSP) Shabir Sethar also awarded Rs Two lakhs and a reward certificate to the martyred constable. Later, the constable was laid to rest with honours.
