BOLLYWOOD: Vidya Balan recently became a victim of being manhandled by a fan at Kolkata Airport while she was out promoting her upcoming movie Behum Jaan.

The details of the incident were revealed by the actress in a recent interview and her displeasure was apparent by the way she talked about it. Vidya revealed that she was at the airport with producer Mahesh Bhatt and director Srijit Mukherjee when the incident occurred.

The three of them were walking in to the airport when a male fan approached Vidya and asked if he could take a picture with her.

Vidya, who is always friendly towards her fans, agreed and the two posed for a selfie. That was when the man put an arm around her. Vidya went into a shock at this gesture and asked the man to put his arm away from her. However, he did not comply and held on to her. It was after this that Vidya’s manager intervened and asked the man to remove his hand.

As Vidya posed for the picture for the third time, the man put his hand on her back and that is when the actress became visibly distressed and shouted at him, saying “What do you think you are doing? This is wrong.”

The man still had the nerve to ask, “Can I have a selfie?” Vidya told him off in a loud voice, “No you can’t, behave yourself!”

After that, Vidya walked off, leaving the man with an angry crowd.

Vidya talked about the incident and the anger was evident in her voice, “When a stranger puts an arm around you, be it a man or a woman you get uncomfortable because they are intruding into your personal space,” she said.

“We are public figures, not public property,” Vidya added.
