Jeep accident leaves 8 dead, others injured in Muzaffarabad

MUZAFFARABAD:  A passenger jeep accident on Tuesday took eight lives with several injured, after falling into a trench near Muzaffarabad city of Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK).

As per reports, the jeep was heading to Seri Dara village, northeast of Muzaffarabad when the accident occurred around 9 am.

A rescue operation was started by the authorities after the incident.

Deputy Superintendent Police (DSP) Riyaz Mughal informed the media that eight dead bodies had been evacuated and the rest are being searched for.

The rescue authorities said that the operation faced challenges and took time due to darkness.

The deceased have been identified as residents of the area, comprising of Muhammad Naveed, Muhammad Sadiq, Bashir, Qasim, Ghulam Hussain, Aslam, Javaid and Nargis Bibi.
