FIA arrests three for illegal currency exchange, human trafficking

GUJRANWALA: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Tuesday arrested one accused of running an illegal currency exchange while two accused of human trafficking.

The deputy director Mufakhir Adeel said that the accused Muhammad Ikram was arrested from Kharian for running an illegal currency exchange. The team recovered Pakistani and international currency from the accused. In another raid, FIA team arrested two human traffickers namely Muhammad Akhter and Abbas Ali from Gujrat who transported people abroad illegally. The team seized seven passports from their possession.

Uncle and nephew kill each other

An uncle and a nephew killed each other on Tuesday during cross firing over a property issue. It was reported that Sikandar, a resident of Kotli Mughlan, had a property dispute with his uncle Iqbal Shah. They shot at each other after a brawl erupted between them. Resultantly, they died on the spot. Meanwhile, the police has registered a case and started investigation.

Police sub inspector arrested for taking bribe

Anti corruption team on Tuesday arrested a proclaimed offender, a police sub inspector who was involved in an alleged corruption.

The regional director Fareed Ahmed said that former sub inspector of Garjakh police station Waqar Akbar took a bribe of Rs40,000 from a citizen to give him favour in a murder case. The preliminary investigations provided enough evidence against the accused. Meanwhile, he has been dismissed from the service.

Two electrocuted by 11KV cables

Two men were electrocuted while working at Sialkot road in Gujranwala. It was reported that the two men were standing on a steel ladder when they received electric shocks from 11kv electric cables passing over their heads. Consequently, both died on the spot.
