PESHAWAR: A committee comprising of top army and civil officials will hold talks with Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM) leader Manzoor Pashteen, an official said on Tuesday.

Corps Commander Peshawar Lt General Nazir Ahmad Butt told a group of journalists that an apex committee will hold talks with the PTM leaders. It was added that the decision to call upon PTM leaders has been taken after their five-point demand.

Lt Gen Nazir Ahmad further added that the demands of the movement leaders are “genuine” and that the army is ready to ponder upon their reservations according to the Constitution.

Last week, while addressing a rally at Lahore’s Mochi Gate, PTM announced to form a ‘Truth and Reconciliation Commission’ to address reservations of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and FATA public.

He also announced Karachi and Swat as the next destination to hold PTM public gatherings.
