A large number of attendees from industry, academia, government, and students participated in the summit. Portuguese Ambassador to Pakistan Dr Joao Sabido Costa was the chief guest at the opening ceremony while former Naval Chief Admiral (r) Asif Sandila graced the occasion as the chief guest at the closing ceremony.
In his address, Dr Joao Sabido Costa mentioned that events such as Open Source Summit were an excellent achievement to spread awareness and create industry-academia linkages.
He said that organisations should utilise open source platforms to build their IT infrastructure.
The event started with a welcome address by Sher Afzal Khan, chief organiser of the event in which he said that hosting of such a mega-event reflects the commitment towards ‘Open Source’ and digital systems.
Renowned national and international speakers said that the summit was influential to develop entrepreneurial culture in Pakistan, bringing together leaders, entrepreneurs and academicians.
Several segments, including panel discussions, case study presentations were part of the summit. Keynote speakers of the summit were from China, India and Pakistan.
In his closing remarks, former Naval Chief Admiral (r) Sandila congratulates the organising committee for organising the event. He stressed the need to promote book-reading culture and use of technology among youth. He distributed souvenirs and certificates among participants and speakers.
