LAHORE: The Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Saqib Nisar on Saturday announced that the Supreme Court will hear Asia Bibi blasphemy case, while he also ordered to restore security provisions to Asia’s counsel.

Justice Nisar directed Punjab IG to restore the provision of police security to Asia’s counsel Saiful Malook.

In his remarks, Justice Nisar said that he personally knows Saiful Malook and that his requests for security protocol are legitimate.

The SC had on Friday directed federal and provincial governments to withdraw police protocol provided to unentitled individuals.

Asia’s counsel had requested provision of security since the cases he is in-charge of are sensitive.

The CJP also confirmed that the apex court, headed by Justice Nisar, will hear the appeal against the death sentence handed to Asia Bibi in blasphemy case.
