Author: Mustansar Abbas

LAHORE: A two-judge bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar has suspended Punjab University’s Vice Chancellor (VC) Dr. Zakaria Zakar, and has installed a senior professor as temporary VC.

The Supreme Court also inquired on whose authority were 80 kanal of the University’s land given to the government.

The Court also summoned the members of the syndicate that was responsible for selling the land.

The Chief Justice then wondered why the University had not had a permanent VC for the past two years, and ordered that he be informed of who was responsible for the delay.
