LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Sirajul Haq on Friday claimed that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) voted for Sadiq Sanjrani in Senate polls on ‘orders from above’.
“PTI had said that they have received orders from above to vote for the candidate from Balochistan (Sadiq Sanjrani) in Senate polls. Still, slogans were chanted in favour of Zardari,” Sirajul Haq said while speaking to the media in Lahore.
The JI chief also asked for those who “bought” votes during Senate polls to be held accountable.
“Aren’t those who bought votes during the Senate elections equally as responsible as those who sold? These people are specialists in corruption and a major operation is needed against them,” he added.
In response to Siraj’s claim, PTI spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry said that “since Siraj is an ally of the PML-N, he will obviously speak their language”. He also rejected the JI chief’s claims as “lies”.
Party leader Shaukat Yousufzai also said that the JIT chief’s remarks are ‘disappointing’. “JI is proving to be a snake up the sleeve. JI is habitual of blaming others for their own shortcomings,” Shaukat said.
He also criticised Sirajul Haq saying that the JI chief should not have remained silent for almost 5 years if “he thought there were problems”.
