ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Friday approved to inquire allegations of disproportionate assets and misuse of authority against former president General (retd) Pervaiz Musharraf.
NAB Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal headed a bureau meeting at the Islamabad headquarters earlier today. During the meeting, the chairman approved probe in allegations of disproportionate asset, misuse of authority and embezzlement against Musharraf and several other political figures.
Moreover, a probe into allegations of corruption and owning an off-shore company revealed in the Panama Papers against Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader Pervaiz Elahi’s son Moonis Elahi has also been approved.
Minister Akram Durrani and PHA Foundation CEO are accused of embezzlement worth Rs 795 million as well as illegal allotment of land.
Furthermore, former chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Imtiaz Inayat Elahi and member finance Syedur Rehman are accused of causing losses of over Rs 470 million to the national exchequer.
Justice (retd) Javed reiterated that “corruption is a curse and its elimination is our priority.”
