LAHORE: The City Traffic Police on Thursday launched a massive crackdown on illegal parking on different roads with an aim to maintain traffic flow as well as to provide better facilities to road users.

Chief Traffic Office (CTO) Rai Ijaz directed all divisional SPs and circle in-charges to continue the campaign in their areas and to take measures to discourage illegal parking and other rules’ violations on city roads.

The CTO said directions had been issued to all sector incharges to check lifters and other resources immediately and to continue strict crackdown against illegal parking without any discrimination. He said the use of illegal green plates, wrong parking, tinted glasses, moving without plates and other types of non-prescribed plates was illegal acts.

He added that special arrangements had been made to control traffic jams in the city. Wrong parking of vehicles on city roads is strictly being checked and negligence on part of traffic police officials would not be tolerated, he said.

The CTO directed wardens to take action against violators of traffic rules in accordance with the law and to keep a vigilant eye on suspicious vehicles.
