Seminar highlights challenges confronting Muslims

KHAIRPUR: One-Day Seminar on “The Opportunities and Challenges for Muslims Ummah: Prospects and Challenges”, was held at Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur on Wednesday, which was organized by the Department of Peace & Conflict Studies. The seminar was presided over by Prof. Dr. Badaruddin Memon, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Aamir Tehseen, Chairman, Madarsa Education Board, Islamabad was the keynote speaker. Prof. Dr.Muhammad Aamir Tuhseen said, the Muslim Ummah is confronting severe problems. The solution of these problems lies in the ultimate unity of Muslims. He lamented the working of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) is weaker and the same is not performing according to its manifesto. It is high time that this organization accelerates it’s efforts in the resolution of the problems of Ummah. The new alliances will hamper the identity and working of OIC and it will shatter its identity, existence and importance.

Dr.Tuhseen told that the contribution of Pakistan is remarkable in the unity of the Muslim Ummah. He suggested that Pakistan should refrain to become part of new alliances but Pakistan could play its pivotal role in the bringing of OIC as proactive and dynamic force. Prof. Dr. Badaruddin Memon emphasis that the Muslim Ummah may promote their Islamic values according to injunction of Islam. He said, the Muslims scientists, statesman, engineers and surgeons have played positive role in the Muslim Ummah in early age. Prof.Dr.Amir Ahmed Khuhro, Director, Institute of International Relations welcomed the guest speaker and shed light on the objectives of the seminar. Dr.Sajjad Ali Raeesi, Coordinator, Institute of Islamic Studies and Sarfaraz Ali Korejo also spoke on this occasion. They said, the Madarsa reforms are the need of the hour. In the past, the Islamic institutions/Madarsas have produced the experts of Mathematics, Arithmetic, Geometry and Cosmology and theses fields were offered in Madarsas. They said, at this stage, these sciences are not being taught in the Madarsas.
