Speaking in a recent interview, Evan Rachel Wood (Dolores) pointed out how gender pay gap afflicted the cast during the first season. While the situation became a bit better for the second season, she is still not paid the same as her male co-stars. However, the actress expects this to change when production for the third season begins. Hence, confirming the continuation of the television series.
“I think I’m just now to the point where I’m getting paid the same as my male co-stars,” said Wood. “I was like, ‘I have never been paid the same as my male counterparts … Never, never.'”
It should be taken into account that HBO has not yet officially renewed ‘Westworld’ for a third season. Going with the statement passed by Wood, the network should be dropping word on the third season in the coming months. The upcoming second season will see the hosts continue their search for answers, having gained sentience and freedom to roam the futuristic theme park without any limitations. This search will lead to the discovery of even more secrets about Robert Ford (Anthony Hopkins) and Arnold Weber (Jeffrey Wright) in the world they created themselves.
There will be a major focus on Bernard Lowe (Jeffrey Wright) as he tries to discover his true nature – he is also a host, while working with the security team to shut down the rampaging, rebelling hosts.
The second season concluded production for all ten episodes in January, 2018. The first episode is now scheduled to premiere on April 22, 2018, exclusively on HBO.
