LARKANA: As many as 16 encounters took place in Larkana during the last month in which 169 criminals were arrested, including three in injured condition.
According to a police report, SSP Umar Tufail claimed that 37 proclaimed offenders, 99 absconders and 30 notorious criminals were arrested during the last 30 days which include Balach Jatoi, Zulfiqar alias Zulfi Jatoi, Zamir alias Zamo Jatoi, Abdul Qadir Veesar, Saeed alias Allah Wadhayo Jatoi, Ahmed Ali alias Motu Mugheri, Qutub Sangi, Salman Jatoi, Sharif Mirjat, Toto Bozdar, Jeo Khakhrani, Ali Jan Jalbani, notorious drug peddler Nang Shaikh and others. One rifle, 12 pistols, two guns, one revolver, a large quantity of bullets, 27 kg hashish, 15 kg cannabis, one looted car, a tractor, a bike and cattle were also recovered from their possession.
The sources in the police said that most of these actions were taken within the limits of Akil police station and working of other stations was still negligible after the replacement of SSP which should also be geared up to wipe out crimes and criminals operating in their respective jurisdictions.
Meanwhile, Larkana Division Deputy Inspector General of Police Abdullah Shaikh said that 37 ASIs of Larkana division have been promoted to sub-inspectors which include nine lady ASIs and 186 head constables to assistant sub inspectors through a Departmental Promotion Committee meeting held in his office in which SSPs of all the five districts participated. The promoted police officers belong to Larkana, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Jacobabad and Qambar-Shahdadkot districts. Promotion cases of 46 HCs were deferred and 18 cases were struck off.
