After the Kathua rape-murder case in which an 8-year-old girl, Asifa was brutally raped and murdered in Kashmir on January 17, it appears the collective conscience of celebrities in India and Pakistan has stirred.

Keeping the never-ending India-Pakistan tensions aside, celebrities from both sides have come together and expressed their concerns and shock at the case.

Pakistani and Indian actors tweeted in line with condemning the incident and expressing their protest.

Armeena Rana Khan, Anushka Sharma, Sanjay Dutt, Farhan Akhtar and Priyanka Chopra are amongst the many celebrities who condemned the tragic incident.

In a message on Twitter that was posted with a picture, Armeena wrote, “#JusticeforAsifa RIP little angel.”

Anushka took to the micro-blogging platform, saying, “The cruelest form of evil is harming an innocent child. What is happening to the world we live in??? These people should be given the most severe punishment there is! Where are we heading as humanity? Shaken to my core.#JusticeforAsifa

Dutt expressed his anger and disappointment in the following tweet: “We have failed as a society! Being a father, I am shaken and filled with anger reading about what happened to an 8-year-old kid. My heart goes out to Asifa’s family. I refuse to accept we really let THIS happen. Justice has to be served NOW. #JusticeforAsifa

Akhtar wrote, “Imagine what goes through the mind of an 8 yr old as she is drugged, held captive, gang raped over days and then murdered.
If you don’t feel her terror, you are not human.
If you don’t demand Asifa get justice, you belong to nothing.”

Priyanka, the new global sensation, bellowed this utter truth: “How many more children like baby Asifa will be sacrificed at the intersect of religion & politics? How many more children will have to suffer unimaginable crimes before we wake up? I’m disgusted. It’s time for swift action. We owe it to Asifa and to humanity. #justiceforAsifa.”

The rest went as follows:

Some celebs also held out posters that said they felt ashamed. The likes of these included Sonam Kapoor, Neha Dupia, Badboy Badshah, and Vishal Dadlani.
