LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday conducted hearing of the contempt of court petition filed against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and daughter Maryam Nawaz.

An LHC full-bench headed by Justice Mazahir Akbar Naqvi heard the petitions against the Sharif family. The bench summoned records of speeches of Nawaz Sharif and daughter Maryam, while the court also summoned PEMRA’s counsel Salman Akram Raja.

Nawaz’s counsel AK Dogar and Maryam’s counsel Azam Nazir Tarar said that the hearings were conducted prior to the filing of the petition.

According to the petitioner, since his ouster from premier, Nawaz Sharif has been uttering derogatory remarks against the judiciary and other institutions. It was also claimed that PEMRA did not take any action on the filed applications.

Moreover, it was requested that the court take action against the respondents over contempt of court.

The court was adjourned until April 16.
