PESHAWAR: The Coal Trade Association has demanded from the government to review the decision of Torkham gate issue and open the gate for the larger interest of the business community who had lost their goods and expenditure worth of million due to the tense bilateral relation with Afghanistan.
The representative were addressing a press conference at Peshawar Press Club on Friday slammed the government unfriendly policy towards the business community and demanded the opening of the Torkham gate as soon as possible.
General Secretary of the association Iqbal Yousuf said that the closing of the gate had suffered not thousands people livelihood and jobs but have put the traders community at the back foot.
The closing has affected the import and export of hundred items including coal, cement, textile and other business articles and business community losing millions of rupees on daily basis. The import and export play vital role in the country economy but the devoid of the ground realities the government has took an unprecedented step by drowning the future of the regional business community depend of the Torkham gate, they added.
