Bilawal vows to create new province in southern Punjab

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Saturday said after coming into power following the upcoming general elections, his party would create a new province in the southern Punjab.

“Whenever it came to making a new province in the southern parts of Punjab, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) jumped in to oppose it,” the PPP chief said while addressing a party gathering here. He urged the workers to support him in his cause of making new province out of southern areas of Punjab.

“If we can build hospitals of international standards in Larkana, Tando Mohammad Khan, Sehwan, Hyderabad and Sukkur for free treatment of heart diseases, we can also build such hospitals in Multan, Muzaffargarh and Rahimyar Khan,” Bilawal said, while speaking about party’s development agenda The PPP has too many links with the city of Multan, he said, adding that in future his political centre will be based in Multan.

Bilawal remarked that PPP enhanced wheat support price from Rs 500 to 1200 which facilitated the rural economy. He said during its tenure, the PPP launched drinking water schemes and poverty alleviation programmes to facilitate the poor.

In his address, former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani said whenever PPP came into power, it worked for the betterment of the poor.

Several senior PPP leaders called on Bilawal Bhutto at the Gilani House and discussed political situation in detail. Those who met the PPP chairman included PPP South Punjab General Secretary and former MNA Natasha Daultana, former federal ministers Makhdoom Shahabuddin, Hamid Saeed Kazmi, Haider Zaman Qureshi and Abdul Qadir.

Bilawal told the visiting party leaders that PPP will defeat its opponents in the southern Punjab in the next general elections. He urged the party leaders and workers to prepare for the upcoming polls.
