Saba Qamar is an actor par excellence, and she is currently reigning supreme over our screens following her rightful due with a nomination for ‘Best Actress’ at The Filmfare Awards in Bollywood this year. This has qualified her as the first Pakistani actress in 25 years to be officially recognised and appreciated on such a large platform for her immense talent. On the occasion of her birthday today, we’ve taken the opportunity to wish the star a very Happy Birthday, as we pick out a few of her major roles that the actor has won us over with.
Just last year, Saba landed herself in B-Town somewhere between a stroke of luck and plain genius. Her character revolved around the role of a mother, desperate to get her daughter admitted into an English Medium School, opposite the renowned Irrfan Khan who played the role of her husband. It was this movie, Hindi Medium, that won her performance a big nomination at the much coveted Filmfare 2018.
Baaghi, the Urdu One drama serial that rounded off in a grand finale at the beginning of this year, depicted the story of the ambitious, fun-loving Qandeel Baloch who had the world wrapped around her fingers with a click of a button. Qamar essayed the role of Qandeel, elevating the show to a huge standard of commercial success.
Previously, towards the end of 2016, Saba found herself in the role of a rockstar in the movie Lahore Se Aagey, which served as a sequel to the 2015 comedy film Karachi Se Lahore. She managed to act and shine the light of her vigorous demeanor in an otherwise dull screenplay.
In Sarmad Khoosat’s Manto, Saba donned an excellent portrayal of the Malika-e-Tarannum Noor Jehan and nailed her negative role in Hum TV’s drama Maat, where she is blinded by her love for wealth, wowing critics and audiences alike.
