QUETTA: President Mamnoon Hussain Wednesday said that the sacrifices of female students and the faculty of the Sardar Bahadur Khan Women’s University would be remembered forever.

The president was referring to the terrorist attack on a bus carrying students of the Sardar Bahadur Khan Women’s University in 2013.

“Balochistan is the future of Pakistan and youth are leader of this journey,” he said while addressing the convocation ceremony of the university, with particular emphasis on female students.

Balochistan is the largest province of Pakistan and its natural resources are going to change the destiny of this region in particular, and Pakistan in general, he added.

While talking about the demographic and strategic importance of Balochistan, the president said that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would unleash an era of prosperity and socio-economic development in the region. He said that for successful completion of the economic corridor, youth, especially female students should play their role in higher and technical education.

He acknowledged the efforts of the university in providing quality education to female students of the province.

“I am looking great future for the youth of Balochistan in the coming years,” he said, adding unity and systematic approach was imperative to counter challenges.

“We are spending much money on the education sector,” he maintained, and claimed that the campus of the National University of Modern Languages (NUML) in Gwadar was set up by reducing the expenditures of the Presidency so that people of Balochistan could learn Chinese language.

In his address, Balochistan Governor Muhammad Khan Achakzai appreciated the role of the university in women empowerment and higher education.

At the end of ceremony, the president distributed degrees and medals among the graduates.
