BEIJING: China State Councillor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Tuesday said that Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will attend the Boao Forum for Asia. Prominent leaders of China, Philippines and Singapore would also be participating in the forum.
The forum will be held from April 8 to 11 in Hainan, China’s southernmost province.
At a news briefing in Beijing, Wang said that China will unfold advanced measures on economic reforms. Chinese leaders have assured to reveal market-opening measures this time that would landmark 40th anniversary of China’s economic reforms led by former leader Deng Xiaoping. Chinese President Xi Jinping will address the forum, known as Asia’s Davos. Wang said that the president will formulate ‘the most authoritative interpretation’ on the economic reforms. “People will perceive salient measures regarding the economic reforms,” he said.
Other attendees include Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, Mongolian Prime Minister Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, Netherlands Prime Minister Mark Rutte, Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, and International Monetary Fund Managing Director Christine Lagarde.
