The paper was launched on April 2, 2002 by the martyred former governor of Punjab, Salman Taseer.
On the occasion of the paper’s 15th birthday, Editor-in-chief Shehryar Taseer said in a Twitter message that the Daily Times has emerged as a pro-democratic and a liberal force in the country.
Taseer further said the Daily Times is playing a very constructive role in presenting Pakistan’s positive image regardless of any fear. “Daily Times is the voice of Pakistanis,” he said.
“Objective journalism, protection of human rights and the rule of democracy” is the manifesto of the paper, Taseer added.
He also thanked editor Raza Rumi for helping him ‘rebuild the institution’.
