BALAKOT: Indian firing at Nikial sector along the Line of Control (LoC) injured two minors in Balakot village.
“Unprovoked firing targeted innocent civilians at LoC Nikial Sec Balakot village injuring children aged 9 and 14 at 2150 hrs yesterday,” Foreign Office spokesman Nafees Zakaria said in a tweet on Sunday. The incident comes a day after a 60-year-old woman was killed in unprovoked firing by Indian forces at Kot Kehtera sector along the LoC.
Both sides routinely accuse each other of violating the 2003 ceasefire agreement along the LoC. However, it is impossible to verify claims from either side due to the lack of access to the heavily militarised zone. Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Bajwa, on his visit to the border last month, termed the violations an attempt to distract the Pakistan Army from its fight against terrorism.
