Shehbaz opens hepatitis filter clinic at Sheikhupura DHQ

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated a CT scan center and a hepatitis filter clinic at Sheikhupura District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) on Sunday,

He expressed delight over the installation of latest CT scan machine, congratulated the staff and examined various parts of hepatitis filter clinic.

Primary and Secondary Healthcare Sectary Ali Jan briefed the chief minister on CT scan center and hepatitis filter clinic.

Talking to media, the chief minister said for the first time in Pakistan’s history high-quality medicines were being provided to the patients at public hospitals. He said that the Punjab government was installing latest CT scan machines at all districts of the province where patients would get 24 hours CT scan facility free of charge. He said that Punjab government had brought a revolution in health sector and facilities were being provided to people at their doorsteps.

“We have taken unprecedented steps in the health sector in the past four and a half years and had brought a true revolution in the health sector. In the last four and a half years, he said that 8,000 beds had been added to government hospitals.

“Through mobile hospitals, treatment and diagnostic facilities are being given to people in remote areas. Twenty mobile hospitals are currently functional while 20 more hospitals will be established soon.”

He said that 180 operation theaters had been constructed at the hospitals while 452 ventilators had been installed. He said that four state-of-the-art burn centres had also been made functional.

“We have taken concrete steps to improve the health sector, but there is still a lot of work to be done. Insha Allah, we will continue to work for improvement of health sector as the development can be achieved only through a healthy society.”

Separately, the chief minister has said that arrival of West Indies cricket team in Pakistan would unbolt the doors of international cricket in Pakistan. “We hope that teams of other countries will also visit the country.”

H added that successful arrangement of PSL matches in Lahore and Karachi had smoothened the way of international cricket in Pakistan.

Meanwhile, the chief minister Sunday expressed deep sense of sorrow and grief over the sad demise of laborers due to an accident in a mine in Tilla Jogian, Jehlum, and sought a report from Rawalpindi division commissioner.

He directed officials concerned to investigate the incident and expedite the relief activities to rescue labourers trapped in mine.
