Spring flower contest starts in Bahawalpur

BAHAWALPUR: The Annual Garden and Spring Flower Competition 2017 was held at Polo Ground, Noor Mahal Bahawalpur.

Commander 31 Corps Lieutenant General Sher Afgan was the Chief Guest on the occasion who praised the participants and organizers for arranging such a wonderful event. He visited the floral displays and appreciated the beautifully designed stalls. The camel and horse show remained the main attraction for the visitors at the flower festival. Different formations of the Bahawalpur Corps, Station Headquarters, Fauji Fertilizers, Sadiq Public School, Quaid-e-Azam Medical College, Islamia University Bahawalpur and Bahawalpur Cantonment Board participated in this event.

Later, Lieutenant General Sher Afgan distributed prizes among the position holders. A large number of military/civil officers, their families and notables of the region attended the function and deeply appreciated the event.

Separately, the anti-foot and mouth disease (FMD) vaccination programme has started in Punjab. Bahawalpur Additional Director Livestock Iqbal Awan said that under the first phase more than 4.4 million livestock have been vaccinated. He said the first phase is in progress in Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar districts, while second phase will start from March 20 in Rahim Yar Khan and Cholistan where more than 2.1 million livestock will be vaccinated.
