KARACHI: Health Department, Government of Sindh, has started installation of biometric machines in public sector hospitals of Karachi and interior of Sindh in order to ensure attendance and culture of punctuality among the employees.
Director Health Services, Karachi & Director General (DG) Health, Sindh, Dr Muhammad Taufiq, while talking to PPI, said installation of biometric machines had already started in Karachi, while heads of public sector hospitals of interior of Sindh had been directed to install biometric machines in health facilities to ensure punctuality and regularity of doctors and other staff members.
He said that biometric system will be linked with DG Health Sindh Office to ensure monitoring of doctors and other staff members as well as medical facilities were being provided to patients on daily basis. He informed that closed-circuit television cameras will also be installed to improve the performance of health facilities throughout province. He informed that a separate information unit had been established to monitor biometric machines and CCTV cameras.
He said the heads of district and taluka hospitals had been instructed to send list of ghost employees to DG Health Sindh with affidavit within two weeks. He said it was learnt that some ghost employees were working in health facilities of interior Sindh and were regularly drawing salaries; therefore, step had been taken to stop such malpractice.
