Makeup artist re-creates Disney princesses with a desi twist

Author: Ayesha Anis

Growing up, all of us girls pretended to be the princesses that we obsessed over; we had the choice of power playing either Esmeralda or Jasmine on Halloween or birthday parties, and that was pretty much it. However, Hamel Patel, a makeup artist and model, demonstrated just how Disney princesses might look if they had a Desi makeover.

Hamel Patel has re-envisioned many of the Disney Princesses on Instagram, and she literally transformed herself into each of one of the princesses using traditional Eastern attire and elements of Eastern culture, and the results turned out to be legit spectacular!

She wrote on Instagram, “Growing up I always wished there was a Disney Princess I could relate to, one that represented where I came from, so I came up with this idea many months ago, and I’m so happy how it turned out! Introducing outfits and makeup looks inspired by the eight original Disney Princesses we all grew up watching, with a little desi twist!”

The talented makeup artist has more than 40,000 followers on Instagram. Her posts are absolutely inspirational and remind us that ANYONE can be a Disney princess.

Here are Hamel’s 8 hypnotising transformations

  1. Cinderella

2. Belle

3. Jasmine

4. Sleeping Beauty

5. Snow White
