LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shehbaz Sharif on Monday inaugurated the Lahore Feeder Bus Service in Model Town.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the CM said that 200 air-conditioned busses will ply from 6am to 11pm on 14 feeder routes in the first phase.

As per details, the buses will cover a distance of 130km while 120,000 commuters are expected to benefit from the service. The CM had also announced to inaugurate a similar bus service in the twin cities, and added that the metro bus system was providing general public a respectable source of travelling. Commuters will be charged with 15 rupees fare from one side and they will also be charged for 20 rupees only on Metro Bus Service, in this way Metro and Feeder Bus service fare is interlinked.

“Punjab Government is utilising the resources with honesty on providing the best facilities in education, health and transportation sector. Those who travel in Mercedes, Pajero and expensive cars feel insecure and jealous after seeing a common man travelling with comfort and respect, and they can criticise without any solid argument; however I don’t get affected from their approach,” Shehbaz said.

Referring to Pakistan Day, he said, “We can build Pakistan a real Islamic welfare state if we will implement the sayings of Iqbal and Quaid.” He also congratulated the nation on inauguration of the new feeder bus service and also appreciated efforts of departments concerned in this regard.

He said that under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, energy projects were heading towards completion and sooner the nation would get rid of load shedding. “Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif has laid a responsibility of serving common man on my shoulders and I will fulfil my promise at any cost and I will go to any limit to change their lifestyle by providing them with better standard facilities so that they can also feel themselves as respectable Pakistani citizens,” he said.

Separately, Shehbaz met Lieutenant General (r) Muhammad Afzal of the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) here on Monday. Pace of on-going development projects in Punjab, especially construction of extended Lahore Ring Road, was discussed at the meeting. The CM expressed satisfaction over speed, standard and transparency in the project.

He said that completion of extended Lahore Ring Road would result in better communication facilities and it would also accelerate economic and social activities in the province, including Lahore.
