ISLAMABAD: The meeting on March 27 between Prime Minister (PM) Shahid Khaqan Abbassi and Chief Justice (CJ) is still a matter of curiosity for Opposition leader Khursheed Shah, who said on Thursday that ‘the meeting was not just about Saaf Pani Project’.
The opposition leader inquisitively remarked on the meeting, stating that the government should give explanation regarding such meetings.
The media, along with opposition political parties, was taken by surprise with the timing of the meeting earlier this week.
Shah, in a conversation with a journalist, said that there was a time for a meeting between heads of institutions at the right place and in the right political environment. He added that one-on-one meetings that only showed interest of PM in giving support and assistance by all means to the judiciary’s vision would undoubtedly gain criticism and suspicion.
The opposition leader said that the meeting will attract rumours, especially when numerous cases were being heard against the government and former President of Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) Nawaz Sharif.
A meeting between CJ and PM was held on Tuesday to discuss issues pertaining to clean water and garbage disposal.
