QUETTA: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman on Thursday said that Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi must have ‘begged’ the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Saqib Nisar to forgive Nawaz Sharif.

Speaking at a joint press conference in Quetta, Imran claimed that “I am sure PM Abbasi must have pleaded with the CJP and in the United States to save Nawaz,” Imran said.

While hearing the Murree constructions suo moto case earlier today, CJP told counsel Latif Khosa that the meeting between himself and PM Abbasi was fruitful for the judiciary. “We gained a lot from the meeting and lost nothing. The pleaders came with their requests but got nothing,” CJP added.

Speaking to the media outside the accountability court, Nawaz responded to CJP’s remarks saying that he is not ‘surprised’ and that PM Abbasi ‘came with requests’ to meet him. He added that the premier has the authority to ask for explanations.

He added that no ‘respectable judge’ should utter such remarks and that no PM would feel ‘pleased’ to hear such words against them.
