ISLAMABAD: Abubakr Mahmood scored a hat-trick on his senior team debut as Pakistan defeated New Zealand 4-2 in their third match at Wellington’s National Hockey Stadium on Monday. After losing the first game of the five-match series, the greenshirts showed great improvement; drawing the second game 2-2 on Saturday before going on to win the next. In the third contest, the visitors were on song from the word go, and registered a thumping victory, courtesy Abubakr’s treble and Haseem Khan’s strike. For the hosts, Cory Bennett and Stephen Jennes scored one goal apiece.
