Model towns of capital to be upgraded: mayor

ISLAMABAD: All the model towns of the federal capital would be made model towns in the true sense of the word so that discrimination of urban and rural Islamabad could be eliminated and all the residents of the city could be provided all civic amenities. The Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), Sheikh Ansar Aziz expressed these views during his visit to RawalTown. Senior officers of the CDA and the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) and a large number of elected representatives also accompanied during his visit. Sheikh Ansqr Aziz planted a plant sapling at Rawal Town as part the on-going Spring Tree Plantation Drive. He also visited the different areas of the Rawal Town and listened the problems of the residents. The Mayor of Islamabad said that in order to elevate the rural areas equal to the sectorial areas of Islamabad, the MCI had devised a road map, which was being implemented in different phases. He said that very soon the discrimination between the urban and the rural areas of the city would be eliminated. He said that the planning had been completed to provide sewerage system, abundant water supply and state-of-the-art sanitation services in rural areas of Islamabad. He said that tenders had been invited for introducing a modern solid waste management system from all over the city and after the completion of the codal formalities.
