NAB distributes recovered Rs 7 billion among fraud victims

LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Tuesday handed over millions recovered from land grabbers to President Gujranwala Irrigation and Cooperative housing society.

NAB Lahore DG Shahzad Saleem handed over a cheque worth Rs 7.4 million to President GIC housing society.

In 2015, NAB arrested several members of the housing society administration among others on charges of fraud and embezzlement, while the bureau also filed references against the suspects.

According to NAB, the suspects had offered 1300 kanals of land to over 300 people while the actual fold of the housing society was 200 kanals.

The bureau has previously handed over an amount of Rs 11 million to the victims of the fraud.
