PESHAWAR: An earthquake of high intensity jolted the upper districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Sunday but no casualities or property damages were reported.
According to geological wing of the Pakistan Meteorological Department, tremors measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale were felt in Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Chitral, Dir Upper, Malakand, Kohistan and various other surrounding areas. People of the areas where the quake was felt were asleep at the time but awoke and hurried out of their homes in panic. The epi-centre of the quake was stated to be in Hindu Kush mountains, 191 kilometre beneath the Earth’s crust.
