Kate Middleton’s royal tour of Paris

Kate Middleton stuck to her winning combination of dresses by her favourite British designers, a crowd pleaser for her hosts and a recycled look on her recent visit to France.

The Duchess has become very adept at championing home grown talent whilst also making sure to promote her host country whilst on royal visits. And this weekend she didn’t disappoint.

The Duchess arrived in the French capital on Friday wearing the same green Catherine Walker coat that she had worn earlier in the day at an Irish Guards event in London, celebrating St Patrick’s Day.

The Duchess added a pair of £125 emerald Monica Vinader drop earrings, but had removed the gold Shamrock broach that she had worn earlier that day. She also had time for a quick hair change, wearing her hair down. Kate completed her outfit with a new pair of Gianvito Rossi suede pumps in forest green.

The Duke and Duchess were greeted at the Élysée Palace by French President François Hollande.

For an embassy reception later that day, hosted by Her Majesty’s Ambassador to France Patrick Llewellyn and his wife, Lady Anne Llewellyn, the Duchess changed into a chic, full length sleeveless black gown by Alexander McQueen.

Kate accessorised the paired down gown with a statement pearl necklace and pearl cocktail ring.

For a black tie dinner at the British ambassador’s residence that evening , Kate made her third outfit change of the day, into an embellished gown by another of her ‘go to’ designers Jenny Packham.

The glittering event was attended by French actresses Kristen Scott-Thomas and Audrey Tatou.

On the final day of her visit the Duchess of Cambridge paid homage to her Parisian hosts by wearing a coat from one of the city’s famous fashion houses. Not only a choice that would have delighted her hosts, but also a winning look for Kate, who must surely have relished the opportunity to wear the chic French luxury label.

The Duchess opted for a tweed waisted frock coat with a box pleated skirt and bracelet sleeves in blue and red that looked like a customised version of a look from Chanel’s 2017 pre-Spring ready-to-wear collection, currently on sale for £8,350.

Kate emphasised her waist with a back Chanel double C belt and she also carried a small burgundy quilted leather top-handle Chanel bag.

Her burgundy fringed block heels were a pair of Tod’s that she’s worn before. Kate made another subtle nod to French style by accessorising with a necklace, earrings and watch by Cartier.

To watch the Wales Vs France rugby match the Duchess recycled a red pillarbox-red Carolina Herrera coat, that she had previously worn during the couple’s royal tour in Canada last September.

Kate teamed with a black turtleneck sweater and black woollen gloves to keep out the cold. It may have been a whirlwind trip but Kate undoubtedly managed to win over her hosts.
