NAB resummons Saad Rafique in Paragon housing scandal

LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has on Sunday summoned Railways Minister Saad Rafique to appear on March 28 over his alleged involvement in Paragon Housing Society corruption scandal.

NAB has summoned Saad Rafique to appear before three-member Joint Investigation Team (JIT) and record his statements pertaining the case later this week.

Moreover, Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique has also been summoned to appear on March 29.

NAB had summoned the lawmaker to appear on March 22 but Rafique did not appear before the probing unit citing official reasons. He also requested NAB to reschedule its summon and said that he is fully willing to cooperate with the bureau.

The scam was brought to light in February after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry alleged that the minister of owning the housing scheme in 2014.

Rafique had also sent a legal notice to the PTI leader for levelling baseless allegations against him, demanding a compensation of Rs5 billion.
