What’s trending on Netflix?

Author: Farhan Janjua

If you’re someone like me who has nothing better to do than Netflixing over a weekend, continue reading as I list top 5 flix that are trending on Netflix. These might help you fill your movie appetite for the weekend. I have seen number 5 and 4 but number 3, 2 and 1 are the ones that are in my to-watch list as well.

1) Welcome to Karachi

This film has been trending on Netflix for all the wrong reasons. The 2015 film starring Arshad Warsi and Jacky Bhagnani as leads is super bad – no wonder this was a massive flop. But since it has hit Netflix only recently, I wouldn’t be surprised if most people – like me – watched it out of sheer curiosity. The film wreaks of all the negative stereotypes about Pakistan and its people. To be fair it does have an element of humour despite everything. So if you’re like me who can’t resist watching a Bollywood film that has a Pakistani metropolis in its title, this film might be for you.

Not to mention two prominent Pakistani actors Adnan Shah Tipu and Kubra Khan also starred in this film.

2) Judwaa 2

As the synopsis reads “separated at birth, twins Raja and Prem couldn’t be more different. But when fate puts them both in London, they start being mistaken for each other”, this is a rather light-hearted and cute film. It’s a remake of the 1997 Indian hit “Judwaa,” also directed by David Dhawan. Dhawan’s son Varun plays the lead in this reboot.

3) Balu Mahi

Synopsis: Determined to stop his ex-girlfriend from marrying, a young man crashes the wrong wedding and meets a bride looking to run away.

Starring Osman Khalid Butt, AinyJaffry and Sadaf Kanwal

This 2017 Pakistani film has been trending for several days and there must be a reason behind it. Just because of that, I might watch it over the weekend.

4) Mahi Way

Synopsis: Though worried she’s doomed to be single forever, Mahi embraces her vivacious and creative nature while working to tame her inner critic.

This 2010 sitcom has only hit Netflix recently and has been trending for a few days as well. Let’s find out what’s the fuss about, shall we?

5) Annihilation

Synopsis: When her husband vanishes during a secret mission, biologist Lena joins an expedition into a mysterious region sealed off by the U.S. government.

OMG, OMG, this looks like the one we should start with.
