Sindh University celebrates glowing Pakistan Day gala

HYDERABAD: University of Sindh Bureau of Students’ Tutorial, Guidance, Counseling Services and Co-curricular Activities (Bureau of STAGS) commemorated Pakistan Resolution Day on Thursday at its main campus at Jamshoro in a glittering mega ceremony at Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Ground.

The celebrations commenced with a rally carrying 200 meter flag of Pakistan. Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof. Dr. Fateh Muhammad Burfat, faculty, officers, employees and students of the university participated in a rally from vice-chancellor’s house to PCB ground.

Participants chanted ear-splitting slogans of “What does Pakistan stands for – La illaha illalah” and crooned patriotic lyrics “Dil Dil Pakistan – Jan Jan Pakistan” meaning “Our hearts throb with Pakistan – Our breaths function with Pakistan” while carrying gigantic flag sprawling across the ground.

Later on, VC hoisted flag of Pakistan accompanied by stakeholders of the university. Then, colourful ceremony was organized under the theme ‘Paigham-e-Pakistan: Education for Enlightenment, Excellence and Tolerance”. The ceremony featured sports, rendition of national songs, speeches, tableaus, acrobatic and gymnastic performances.

In his address on the occasion, Dr. Burfat said that the purpose of celebrating the day was to demonstrate love for the beloved homeland ‘Pakistan’ by the people of Sindh and 35 thousand students, faculty, officers and employees.

“Today, I feel proud to express that Sindh had a vital role in creation of Pakistan as Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah belonged to it, whose efforts had won a separate and independent motherland for us. Pakistan Muslim League won majority of the seats from Sindh in the General Elections of 1946 and Sindh Assembly was first to pass a resolution in favor of Pakistan,” he said.

He further said that its second time that SU employees had prepared 200 meter flag which reflects their love for Pakistan.

Mehran Television Network Chief Executive Ghulam Nabi Morai said that real change in Pakistan can only be infused with struggle, ensuring quality education, adopting positive attitude, behavior and approach based on moral integrity and tenets of righteous conduct.

Morai said that the sanctity of the day required sacrifice and efforts by all citizens of Pakistan for its prosperity.

HEC Karachi Regional Director Javed Ali Memon said that success of Pakistan resides under unity amongst people of the country. He said that the nation needs to move ahead as one cohesive, inseparable and indivisible unit.

Following the occasion, students of Syed Pannah Ali Model School of Jamshoro and Dr. N.A. Baloch Model School of Hyderabad performed outstanding skits presenting their accentuating love for Pakistan. Number of faculty members participated in athletic competitions.

After Friday prayers, mega musical concert began with national songs attended by a large number of students. Many students came from Hyderabad and suburban towns to participate in Pakistan Day festivals.
