‘Long live Pakistan,’ chant locals of Khyber Agency to mark Pakistan Day

KHYBER AGENCY: Like other parts of the country, the 78th Pakistan Day was also observed on Friday in Khyber Agency with national zeal and with a pledge to develop the country more.

In this connection, a number of programmes including sports competitions had been arranged in different part of the Agency.

The day was marked with special prayers, offered in the morning for the country’s prosperity and solidarity.

In Tehsil Landi Kotal, the main event was organised at ground of Hamza Baba Complex that was attended by Tehsildar Shamsul Islam as chief guest flanked by a large number of people from different walks of life.

Game competitions like Tug of War and cricket matches were part of this lively event which was arranged under the auspices of Khyber Sports Club.

Likewise, a cycle race competition from Satara Mill to Zayarai Checkpoint was also organised by the Khyber Youth Forum with the assistance of Khyber sports department.

The local journalist community also cut a cake at the Landi Kotal Press Club to celebrate the 78th Pakistan Day.

Similarly, a sports gala in connection with March 23 celebrations was managed at Qunge Ground, Sultan Khel of Tehsil Landi Kotal, organised by the Qunge Ground Sports Committee.

A small gathering but involving the participation of eminent people, was also held in Jamrud Tehsil that was joined by administration officials, tribal elders, heirs of martyrs and members of civil society. Addressing the occasion, Jamrud Assistant Political Agent Zahid Usman, Malik Ismail, Malik Salahuddin and others shed light on the importance of the day. Earlier, floral wreaths were laid at the monument of martyrs.

Similarly, in Tehsil Bara, the tribesmen took out a rally to mark the day with national fervour. The participants while holding national flags, chanted “Long live Pakistan.”
