LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chief Tahirul Qadri has on Friday said former prime minister Nawaz Sharif wants to leave the country before the end of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government’s term, and due to judgments on corruption references.

Speaking to party leaders, Tahirul Qadri said that Nawaz Sharif is ready to flee the country before PML-N government’s tenure comes to a conclusion. He also demanded that the former PM must present money trail of his London assets before the accountability court.

“So-called tiger who was intimidating state institutions few days back, now wants to surrender. There can be no negotiations with plunderers and black mailers,” Qadri added.

Referring to the 2014 Model Town incident, Qadri said that bereaved families want Sharif Brothers tried in anti-terrorist courts. In addition, the PAT chief said that those involved in the Model Town ‘massacre’ deserve no legal or constitutional concession.

“If such culprits get any concession in the name of negotiations, then accountability of high-ups in Pakistan would become a dream,” Qadri added.

Continuing his tirade against Nawaz and Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Qadri said the ‘disqualified group’ is trying to divide the judiciary and the army as they did in 1997 and 1999, in an effort to blackmail state institutions to achieve their goals.

Tahirul Qadri further said that political parties are protesting against privatisation of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and Steel Mills, while on the other hand, the Punjab government is trying to sell major hospitals and educational institutes in the name of outsourcing.

Bid price of Jinnah, Ganga Ram, Mayo and major hospitals has been fixed, once private ‘mafia’ takes control of these hospitals, poor masses would have to pay for even basic medicines, Qadri said.
