‘Population bomb’

Author: Daily Times

Sir: Like terrorism, corruption and extremism, rising population is also a big problem for Pakistan.

According to new census’ provisional result, there is almost 207million population that is heavy burden on Pakistan’s meagre resources. Due to increasing population, food security, water shortage, poverty, unemployment, illiteracy, mother and child mortality rate emerge rapidly that results chaotic conditions in the country. Already this worn-torn country would be dragged into internal conflicts. Separatism and provincialism would be fanned if any province does not get its due share from resources. It would pave the way for her neighbours specially India to get considerable advantage form this mutual squabbling of centre and province.

It may be, India use water as a powerful weapon to fuel on fire in Pakistan by blocking rivers. The Government should pay a heed to control population. It should conduct seminars in remote areas to educate people about welfare planning. Already enacted laws should be implemented with zeal and zest. Last but not least, there should be mechanism to store water as we could use it in future and similarly highly qualified technocrats should be hired to utilize these inadequate resources transparently.
