ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Wednesday warned that whoever is spreading blasphemous content on social media, will be punished.
During the press conference in Islamabad, Chaudhary Nisar stated, “Social media is not more important than religion and faith,” adding that the issue of blasphemy is not limited to one country but rather one that affects the entire Muslim world.
He informed that Pakistan has been taking measure to deal with problems with the help of court orders; meanwhile, a joint agenda has been outlined by Muslim countries which will produce productive results.
The minister voiced his concern over players involved in spot fixing scandals and stated that this needs to be stopped as it affects Pakistan’s repute.
He stated, “The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) probe has not yet revealed who was involved in the scandal.”
Nisar stated, “The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and FIA should cooperate and decide how to proceed with the investigation and the PCB has certain powers that the FIA doesn’t.”
“The FIA doesn’t need permission and does not need to inform anyone in writing to start an investigation”, the minister asserted.
Nisar warned the people involved in spot fixing as he concluded, “Spot-fixing issue can be traced to foreign countries, and the government will go against bookies whether they are in Pakistan, India or Dubai.”
