LAHORE: Chief Justice (CJ) Saqib Nisar on Thursday rejected the apology of Director General (DG) of Lahore Development Authority (LDA). A panel of three members heard the case in road construction for Finance Minister Ishaq Dar’s residence case.

Justice Nisar inquired who had directed the construction of the road while digging it up. LDA DG replied that Ishaq Dar had requested the widening of the road for parking.

CJP inquired during the hearing if Dar had submitted a written application in the matter.

“Ishaq Dar called and asked me to construct the road,” replied LDA DG.

The court expressed extreme offense over the statement. “What type of an officer are you? You uprooted the park over the verbal directions of a minister. I will not allow bias here. A case should be run against you according to the laws of NAB”, Chief Justice remarked.

LDA DG requested an unconditional apology from the court. “The time to apologise has passed. Tell us in writing how much area did the park cover. Bring accord along with an affidavit,” said the CJP.
