KARACHI: The greenback remained flat in value against the domestic currency in the interbank and ended dull in the open market, currency dealers reported.
Due to insignificant demand for import bills and dull demand from the corporate sector, the greenback closed without any change in value in the interbank.
The dollar closed at Rs 104.50 for buying and Rs 104.70 for selling. During the past week, dollar was depressed in value against the rupee and traded at a low of Rs 104.49. The dollar’s rate differential between kerb and interbank markets stood at Rs 1.71 on average. Treasurers said due to comparatively less than usual demand from the corporate sector which, coupled with the central bank’s intervention, helped the rupee stay firm. The euro gained 27 paisas in the interbank market to close at Rs 112.67 for buying and Rs 112.87 for selling. The pound sterling went up by 90 paisas to close at Rs 130.15 and Rs 130.35 for buying and selling respectively.
