Google ‘wedding invite’. The search engine will throw up millions of examples of pastel colours, curly font, pricey-looking card, flower motifs and metallic embossments.

The stuff Pinterest dreams are made of.

Wedding stationary tends to either be elegant or cutesy. But never scary.

After all, it’s probably set you back a few quid.

One couple, however, decided to fly in the face of convention – and frightened the life out of their guests in the process.

Aunt Nancy is marrying a sheriff named Matt, and they’re not afraid to have some fun with this fact.

Having made their invites appear like a notice to appear in court, they’ve not only scored a massive point of originality BUT they’ve also come up with the perfect way of ensuring not everyone attends.

Think about it. If there are a few guests lurking on your list who you felt obliged to invite, this could be a cunning way of putting them off.

“Some people aren’t going to show up. Too busy running away and never opening this letter,” one commenter agreed.

We’ve certainly taken note.
