LAHORE: Punjab Deputy Inspector General (Traffic) Farooq Mazhar has penned a letter to the transport secretary to ensure installation of speed governors in heavy and light public transport vehicles. The DIG said, “It will be ensured that speed governor are installed in every vehicle and are in working condition prior to registration of vehicles.” According to the letter, “Speed governors will be installed in all vehicles running on route A and M in the first phase, while installation of speed governors will be ensured in all remaining vehicles in the second phase. According to Article No 164A of the Motor Vehicle Rules 1969, “Installation of speed governors in heavy and light public service vehicles, including trucks, trailers and tankers, is compulsory. Earlier, Punjab Inspector General of Police (IG) Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera had directed the DIG to ensure installation of speed governors.
