LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has congratulated the nation on the Pakistan Day and said that the nation should stand united to accomplish the dream of Quaid-e-Azam M.A. Jinnah and Allam Mohammad Iqbal.

In his message on the Pakistan Day, he said that Pakistan was established to give equal rights to all and not for loot, plunder, rigging, nepotism and extortion. “Unfortunately, the rulers of the past distracted the country from its real destination but now Pakistan was heading towards its real destination under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif.”

He said the Pakistan Resolution had played an important role in the establishment of Pakistan and March 23 was also the day to pay homage to martyrs of the Pakistan Movement.

“On March 23, 1940, Muslims of the sub-continent resolved to carry out the great struggle under the flag of the Pakistan Muslim League and gave unprecedented sacrifices for Pakistan,” the chief minister said, adding martyrs of the Pakistan Movement sacrificed their lives for the separate homeland.

He said justified distribution of resources was necessary to end the difference between the rich and the poor. “We need to do hard work to achieve the objectives of the establishment of Pakistan. We should resolve that we will struggle for the progress and development of Pakistan with faith, unity and discipline. He reiterated his pledge to leave no stone unturned for a respectable place of Pakistan in the comity of nations.

Separately, British Home Secretary Amber Rudd met the chief minister on Wednesday and appreciated the CM for taking exemplary measures for development and progress in Punjab.

She said several measures had been taken for the development and progress of the people of Punjab, especially in education and health sectors. She said solid steps had been taken for protection of women rights and elimination of child labour from
brick kilns.

The secretary said that the province was making remarkable performance under the leadership of chief minister Shahbaz.

She said the UK and the Punjab government were cooperating in various fields. She also thanked the chief minister for his hospitality.
