LAHORE: In a major crackdown on quacks, the Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC) on Wednesday sealed 26 fake healthcare centres in the provincial capital city and initiated further legal action against them. As per details, the Commission’s teams carried out surprise raids in different areas of the city and sealed 26 businesses which included seven fake dentists, 13 general quacks, four hakeems and two bone-setters. The fake dentists included Zakaria Shamsi Dental and Optical Centre, Syed Dental Care Centre, Allah Ditta Dental Clinic, Rehman Dental Clinic, Doctors Dental Clinic, Tasleem Tufail Dental Clinic and Dental Care Clinic. At 13 centres, quacks were posing as general physicians, which included Riaz Clinic, Iqbal Clinic, Ali Clinic, Hafsa Clinic, Asghar Clinic, Sher-e-Rabbani Clinic, Fauji Clinic and Medical Store, Ghazanfar Clinic, Ajmal Clinic, Lasani Clinic, Tauseef Clinic, Al-Shifa Clinic and Ali Children Clinic. Around five outlets of hakeems including Chishti Dawakhana (two businesses), Baba Siraj Dawakhana and Hadri Shifa Khana Jarrah, and two bone-setters Allah Dita Hadi Jorr and Yousaf Jarrah were also sealed. It is pertinent to mention here that the commission has closed down more than 7,900 businesses of quacks, and fined them Rs 60.8 million.
