LAHORE: Service centers have been established in all districts of province for facilitation of public where people are being provided with 13 facilities, including character certificate, under one roof, said Punjab Police Inspector General (IG) Captain (r) Arif Nawaz Khan on Tuesday.
“Information technology reforms pertaining to modern policing have helped change thana culture,” he said while addressing 52 senior officers of the 108th National Management course at CPO.
The inspector general said that under zero-tolerance policy, crackdown on anti social elements and terrorist organisations had been intensified to ensure protection of lives and property of the citizens. He expressed satisfaction on the implementation of the National Action Plan.
He said that comprehensive steps were being taken to enhance efficiency of force, adding that establishment of specialised units, including CTD, SPU, Dolphin, Riverine and anti riot force had improved progress of Punjab Police manifold.
Additional Inspector General (Operations) Aamir Zulfiqar Khan, Additional PHP IG Amjad Jawed Saleemi, Additional IG (Training) Tariq Masood Yasin, Additional IG Special Branch Faisal Shahkar, Additional CTD IG Rai Tahir, Additional IG Logistics and Procurement BA Nasir, besides other officers were present.
On the occasion, Additional IG (Operations) Aamir Zulfiqar Khan briefed the participants of delegation about operational method, IT reforms and other steps taken against extremism and terrorism.
He added that terrorism, kidnapping for ransom cases, murder, dacoity and other culpable crimes had been reduced in different districts of the province. Moreover, he said that front desks, police service centres, criminal record management system with the help of information technology had been upgraded.
The participants of the delegation asked questions about child abuse, investigation method and operation against defunct organisations. In reply, the inspector general said that actions in accordance with the National Action Plan were being taken in all districts of Punjab and the ban on Loudspeaker Act and fund raising as being ensured strictly.
He said that steps were being taken for intelligence sharing with law enforcing agencies. He added that all available resources were being used for smart and community policing.
After the briefing, the participants of the delegation visited different projects such as monitoring and control room, 8,787 IGP complaint service, front desk monitoring and human resource monitoring system.
Later, the inspector general presented a souvenir to the leader of the delegation by Punjab Police.
