Rumman Raees ruled out of PSL3

Author: Staff Report

DUBAI: Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Islamabad United’s vice-captain, left-arm pacer Rumman Raees, has been officially ruled out from the remaining of the tournament, the side announced on Tuesday. “Errol Alcott, the Islamabad United physio, has been in discussion with the knee specialist who has reviewed Raees here at Saudi German Hospital and they’ve concluded that while he has improved a lot, his knee is not holding up to the heavy load whilst bowling and that he should take rest to recover completely,” said a spokesman for the team. He further added that it was important to Islamabad United that the general wellbeing of their players and their future success in their cricket endeavours was maintained. “So while we are disappointed for Raees not being with us for the remainder of the PSL3, we know getting him to rest is the right thing to do,” he added. Raees, during second innings of the PSL contest between Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators on March 1 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, was taken off the field when he hurt his right-leg knee. He was trying to save the boundary when his knee got stuck in the ground. He was stretchered off from the field. Islamabad played their eighth match yesterday against Multan Sultans and have two more matches, which are scheduled on March 15 and 16 against Quetta Gladiators and Karachi Kings, respectively.
